On January 29, 1845 Edgar Allan Poe's "The Raven" was published for the first time in the "New York Evening Mirror."
Here's a link to "The Raven" from the Poe Museum website. The museum itself is located in Richmond, Virginia and its website includes teacher resources and student resources.
For Grades 6-8, consider using ReadWriteThink's lesson plan: Modeling Reading and Analysis Processes with the Works of Edgar Allan Poe
From Teacher's First, you can have students participate in an interactive reading of "The Raven" where students learn a bit more about alliteration, assonance, internal rhyme, and various vocabulary words. Here's the link to The Rave: The Interactive Study Resource.
